Objectives Accomplished During Internship
ONECreate a report of the feedback surveys for the Newport International Boat Show 2014
After the annual Newport boat show, an online survey was sent to the Exhibitors, the Sponsors and the Guests. Exhibitors had to answer about their overall experience at the boat show. Based on the feedback survey 23 exhibitors thought it was an excellent experience, 16 of them had a good experience and 12 exhibitors thought it was average or below average. The survey sent to the sponsors asked about their objective in attending the boat show. The highest objective scores were to create awareness and increase brand loyalty. And the lowest goal was to entertain clients.
Finally, 50 guests took the survey and had to respond to 32 questions. 40% of the guests were visiting just to see what's new but not for a particular reason and 39% of the guests wanted to compare boat prices.
Based on the feedback, for 40% it was their first time attending and 15% came to the boat show more than ten times. The overall course of the boat show was rated as good based on the quality of the concessions, the overall enjoyment and the crowd flow during the boat show. 90% of the guests said they would return for the next annual boat show although 98.8% of them didn't buy a boat.
The Newport International Boat Show is indeed a boat exhibition but mainly a good time. It offers opportunities for exhibitors to sell their products, for sponsors to create brand awareness and for guests to enjoy the waterfront view and explore the diversity of company's products displayed. |
TWOCreate a guide on how to display merchandise at festivals
(Oktoberfest) The context at festivals may slightly differ for each one but overall, the crowd comes for the same reason, to have a good time and leave with a good souvenir. First, when setting up your booth, it is necessary to think of the type of guests. Oktoberfest lasted two days, which attracted two different type of crowd. On saturday, it was mostly students while on sunday it was mostly families. Thus, I had to adapt the merchandise display to attract most people. The setting is important too, to be effective, place your booth in a passage area because even if a person don't stop, they still look at it over and over again and may end up influencing their primary decision of not buying your merchandise. When the visitors are 23 and under Around this age range, maturity is not yet completely accessed. You need to be aware of what products are picked up and put down and be reactive. You will often have to deal with intoxicated customers and it's in your hands to be sociable and patient. Your merchandise display will get disorganized with every customer but make sure to keep up so your booth looks attractive anytime. You also need to know what kind of merchandise to propose, for Oktoberfest I had a range of products that could satisfy any age, from baby shirts, silly hats to steins and koozies. Remember to adapt the products' display to the type of crowd. When visitors are twenty three and under, toys, fun gadgets and clothing should be easy to reach and see. When the visitors are 23+ Young couples, families, group of friends etc... they all have to please another so try to sell matching products such as identical women and men's shirts, kids' toys and house products like mugs. Note: Throughout the event, always make sure to rearrange the merchandise so it seems new and fresh for the visitors that may stay a long period of time at the festival. Also, if possible, make deals. For example, 2 shirts for 15$. CHECKLIST BEFORE EVENT - Count the inventory - Place the products so they occupy the whole table - Don't hide merchandise under one another - Display some products behind you so they is a permanent presentation that stays intact - Adapt the display to the type of crowd Note: The way you present yourself is really important. Dress professional and look clean. CHECKLIST AFTER EVENT - Check the inventory - Clean the merchandise - Count the cashier If you have fun during the event, the crowd will have fun stopping at your booth. Smile, be friendly and sell as much as you can ! |
